Commercial Credit Analyst - Berlin, Wisconsin

Job Description:

This position analyzes current credit data and financial statements of individuals and businesses to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit for use in the loan decision-making process. This position will participate in the ongoing credit administration of the commercial loan portfolio.

Essential Duties:

1.Participate in the commercial lending activity of the Bank through the underwriting and administration of commercial loans, ensuring compliance with Bank's lending policy, state and federal laws and regulations and established goals and objectives.

2.Spread financial statements and perform detailed analysis on existing and prospective borrowers to determine credit worthiness, collateral coverage, debt service capacity, risk profile, and appropriate loan structure. Recognize and assess pertinent risks and identify the impact of financial, non-financial and external factors, ranging from management issues to general economic and industry conditions.

3.Prepare commercial loan presentations to include financial analysis as well as integrating relevant external factors such as management, market, industry and economic climate.

4.Participate in ongoing program of credit administration including the review of business bankers' portfolios, evaluating collateral, borrower's financial condition, debt service capacity and adequacy of file data. Remain current on bank loan policy, procedures and existing laws/regulations, verifying conformity and noting exceptions in existing and prospective credit facilities.

5.Monitor monthly reports ensuring adherence to loan policy such as required financial data submission, maturing loans, documentation and proper risk rating assignment.

6.Review appraisals and environmental questionnaires to ensure compliance with loan policy.

7.Ensure integrity and accuracy of the commercial loan portfolio risk ratings.

8.Prepare quarterly updates on problem assets.

9.Assist in timely submission of credit write-ups, workload scheduling and the preparation of minutes.

10.Prepare reports on loan concentrations, LTV exceptions and exceptions on closed loans.

11.Preparation of guaranteed government loan applications and ongoing reporting requirements.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business oriented discipline and minimum of three years in a commercial lending or credit analyst position required.
  • SBA experience preferred.
  • Must have a strong credit skill set.
  • Accuracy – Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ambition - Motivation to continue lifelong learning and improving processes.
  • Analytical Skills – Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem – seeing the big picture as well as the small details.
  • Financial Aptitude – Ability to understand and explain economic and accounting information and review and interpret financial information.
  • Deductive Reasoning – Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Detail Oriented – Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
  • Communication – Ability to communicate both verbally as well as in writing error-free, clearly and concisely.
  • Decision Making – Ability to make sound, critical decisions while following company procedures.
